Exploits University Earns
National Accreditation Renewal
— Programmes Approved Until 2031
The National Council for Higher Education confirms EU's quality standing, registering five new programmes and granting fresh accreditation in a landmark review.
Exploits University (EU) has received a significant vote of confidence from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), following a comprehensive institutional and programme assessment. At its 48th Council meeting held on 13th March 2026, the NCHE confirmed the renewal and expansion of accreditation for EU's academic programmes — a milestone that cements the university's standing as a quality higher education institution in Malawi.
The Council's resolutions, communicated formally to the institution, follow an on-site assessment conducted in July–August 2025 that evaluated academic standards, institutional infrastructure, staffing, and student support systems across all departments. The outcome reflects the university's sustained commitment to delivering credible, nationally recognised education.
"The Council appreciates your institution's commitment to ensuring the quality of higher education and appeals for continued efforts to strengthen and enhance quality standards." — NCHE, 18th March 2026
The following flagship programmes have received full accreditation, valid from 13th March 2026 to 13th March 2031, confirming their academic credibility and ongoing delivery strength:
In addition to renewals, the NCHE granted fresh accreditation to a new academic offering, expanding EU's portfolio of nationally recognised qualifications:
The NCHE further registered five additional programmes, marking EU's growing academic reach across business, health, management, and postgraduate studies. Registered programmes are valid for 18 months, during which the university is working toward full accreditation.
This outcome underscores Exploits University's standing as a credible, forward-looking institution in Malawi's higher education landscape. For students and prospective applicants, national accreditation means that degrees and diplomas earned at EU carry regulatory recognition — a prerequisite for professional employment, postgraduate study, and career advancement both locally and regionally.
For corporate partners, government agencies, and development organisations that recruit EU graduates, the NCHE's renewed confidence is assurance that EU alumni are equipped with skills that meet national academic benchmarks.
For the institution itself, this accreditation cycle signals a commitment not just to maintaining standards, but to expanding them — as evidenced by the addition of nine accredited and registered programmes alongside ongoing quality improvement plans the university is actively pursuing in line with NCHE guidance.
Exploits University remains fully committed to the highest standards of academic quality and governance. The institution thanks its students, staff, faculty, and stakeholders for their continued trust and partnership in building a centre of excellence in the heart of Malawi.
